Finnish
rider (KTM) became the winner of the German EMX2 European Championship
event. Second was Matthias Walkner (Austria, KTM) and third was Klemen
Gercar (Slovenia, Yamaha).
Jeffrey
Herlings (Netherlands) from the KTM JM Racing took the holeshot. He was
riding reliably on the first position from beginning till the end of the
first race. Klemen Gercar from Yamaha Gariboldi Racing started second and
Matthias Walkner from Austria third. Harri Kullas from Finland was
becoming closer, overtook both and finished second. Christophe Charlier,
the leader of the EMX2 European Championship crashed at the start. He
started from behind and it was another difficult race for him. Charlier
had to pass many riders and finished eighth.

Harri
Kullas
In
the second race Harri Kullas dominated already from the start. Finnish
rider was riding first, he was decided to take his maiden EMX2 win.
Christophe Charlier lagged behind also at the start of the second race,
but this time he did not crash and finished second. Klemen Gercar started
second. After his teammate Charlier passed him, Gercar was holding the
third position. But Gercar could not stop Walkner, who attacked him and
finished third. The winner of the first race Jeffrey Herlings crashed and
finished eighth.
Harri
Kullas was the overall winner of the event in Schwedt. Matthias Walkner
finished second. Klemen Gercar took his third following podium, finished
third. Jeffrey Herlings was fourth and Christophe Charlier fifth. Riders
were very narrow. Walkner, Gercar and Herlings all finished the event with
38 points.
Herlings
took only three points more than Charlier, so Charlier did not lose too
much. He is leading the EMX2 European Championship with 44 points in front
of Herlings. Gercar is staying third. His closest competitor Walkner is 40
points behind on the fourth position. Fifth is Herjan Brakke (Netherlands,
Honda).
Next
event for the EMX2 European Championship will be August 9 in Lacapelle
Marival, France.

COMMENTS

– HARRI KULLAS (FINLAND): »I took two good starts today. In the second
race I took the holeshot and I was riding my own race. I won the second
race and the event. But I am more satisfied with the first race
because in the second I was tired. I have been racing here in Schwedt
already third time. In the past I was second twice and now I won, that is
perfect. The track is sandy and similar to our tracks in Finland.«

– MATTHIAS WALKNER (AUSTRIA): »In the Qualifying Race I did not have a
good feeling. Today I was fast in both starts and after I found a good
rhythm. I finished on the top, I was third and fourth. I like to compete
in Germany, it is our neighbour country and I go to often Germany. But I
have never been here in Schwedt before. I am first rider using the
electric starter on my KTM bike and I must say this is a perfect system.«

– KLEMEN GERCAR (SLOVENIA): »Yesterday I won the Qualifying Race, I
made some fast laps. Today I was tired, specially in the second race. I
lost the third position and probably also second place overall. This is
already my fourth podium this season and I am happy about my results. The
track was difficult but well prepared. Three years ago I won the junior
EMX2 event on this race track. But the organizer made some changes before
this weekend.«
